Age of Aquarius

As a species, we crossed from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius. (2000 on..) Since the earth is moving in retrograde motion, we have left the Age of Pisces.

The age before the Age of Aquarius was the Age of Pisces. Since the earth is moving in retrograde motion, we have just left the Age of Pisces, which marked the years 1-2000 AD. This time coincides with the age of Christ and Christianity. Pisces is considered the last sign of the zodiac, a compendium of all the signs that came before it, from Aries to Aquarius. Pisces is the sign known for universal love, compassion, self-sacrifice, altruism, creativity, intuition and deep spirituality. Pisces know the truth of the universe but can’t quite say why they know it. It doesn’t matter, for Pisces know that “truth” is always in flux. To Pisces, what is in the human heart is true, for it is true to the soul. Pisces is an introspective sign. This Piscean mindset has been the way humanity has approached the world since we evolved and has colored everything that we have encountered during that period. (continue reading at the above link)

This change is not an instant effect; the change is part of a larger cycle, much like the first day of winter (or winter solstice) is December 21, the change from fall to winter doesn’t happen overnight.

Some confusion arises regarding exact dates, because the Aquarian Age begins when the vernal equinoctial point crosses into the constellation Aquarius. That constellational boundary is, at times, disagreed upon. Some believe that the Age of Aquarius arrived up to five centuries agoThe beginning date depends on where you accept the boundary for the constellation Aquarius to be. Modern astronomers redrew the star maps early in the 20th century to reflect their need for making accurate measurements of stellar positions, etc. These boundaries were not the same as the ancient constellational boundaries which the great ages were based on. That is how the debate about the beginning of the Age of Aquarius started. Another factor in the debate involves the duration of each great age. Should all of the 12 great ages be of equal length or should they be based on the irregular shape of the constellations along the zodiac? Read on to find more about this fascinating yet confusing subject.

What does Age of Aquarius mean?

“What lies ahead for Humanity? With all the problems we have, it’s hard to believe our future is bright. Inflation and recession, environmental deterioration, diminishing resources, unrest and oppression in developing countries, and apathy, loneliness and lack of direction in developed ones all combine to severely cloud the horizon…

It may seem fantastic, but the signs in the heavens point to an extraordinary renewal in the years just ahead. If we recall some recent trends, this prospect doesn’t seem so outlandish. It wasn’t too long ago that we heard about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, and about the revival of spirit among the new generation. We can still hear the echoes of John Kennedy’s call to action and see the vision of Martin Luther King’s dream. Before he and his dream were shot down in 1968, he said we as a people “would get to the promised land.” The promise seems empty now, yet the planetary cycles support his prophecy. For what we discover when we examine these cycles is compelling evidence that a renaissance and a golden age is right around the corner.”

“You are probably familiar with the term New Age, and you may have heard or read about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This simply means that we are leaving one age (Pisces), and entering into a new one (Aquarius). This happens every two thousand years – the last one coinciding with the arrival of Christ.

What does this have to do with you? Well, it has quite a lot to do with you and everyone else on the planet. For a start, if you haven’t already undergone any changes, you might be feeling the urge to change now, or you may be witnessing changes around you. Either way, you will certainly be aware that life on planet Earth seems to be going off the rails in one way or another.

This is characteristic of the changing of the Ages as people struggle to adapt to the new energies. You will also have noticed certain major developments – such as science, computers and technology, all of which are now forming the backbone of our society. UFOs, alternative medicine, astrology, vegetarianism and other subjects previously considered weird or cranky are growing rapidly in popularity, and are all subjects associated with the sign of Aquarius. These subjects will become more and more commonplace, and astrology and other ‘mystical’ methods of self-help and understanding will help people to become more in tune with their spiritual selves in preparation for the New Age.

People are already beginning to look within for the answers they seek, instead of outward to money, possessions and other people. The more enlightened members of society will welcome the New Dawn with its emphasis on humanity, kindness, truth, spirituality and enlightenment.”

You also probably have heard the song, Age of Aquarius, “the one about the time when Jupiter aligns with Mars. Well, there’s really more to it than that, as Jupiter and Mars align relatively often. What’s really remarkable about this epoch is the powerful change that will sweep through our world, the shift in mood, action and intention that is already palpable. The estimated start date is thought to be sometime around the millennium, but, though its exact start date is contested among astrologers, astronomers, theologians and others, the effects of the Age of Aquarius have already been felt.”

The Age when everything becomes unified;

“In the New Age we break free of centuries of false doctrines, destructive indoctrinations, absurd ideas, and children’s stories about God, education, medicine, and love. The corrupt foundations of false society crumble. This time of crises is not the signal of the end of the world. What comes is not the end, but the beginning. The dream humanity has lived for centuries ends and we awaken to a bright new day, a bright new way.

Now in the Age of Aquarius, everything becomes unified. All our differences, all our dualities mix together like the fragrances of a flower shop, with all of the different flowers adding their bouquet to the overall mix until they are inseparable. Each individual flower remains distinct and individual, each one’s fragrance is unique and discernible when you come up close to it, yet joined together in unity with the others in the wonderful mixture that is the smell of the shop. Our individual worth comes from inside, from what we have inside, through our development, our evolution, and what we can give to society. Now our drastic differences dissolve and we integrate into the whole. We integrate and unify with the energy of the universe, with the great cosmic spirit. Continue Reading ~ at Millennium Education

The Age of Aquarius is an astrological term denoting the astrological age, depending on the method of calculation. Astrologers maintain that an astrological age is a product of the earth’s slow precessional rotation and lasts for 2,160 years, on average (1 degree every 72 years. 360 / 12 zodiac signs = 30. 30 * 72 = 2,160). In popular culture in the United States, the Age of Aquarius refers to the advent of the New Age movement in the 1960s and 1970s.

Solar Winds of Change

There are various methods of calculating the length of an astrological age. In sun-sign astrology, the first sign is Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, whereupon the cycle returns to Aries and through the zodiacal signs again. Astrological ages, however, proceed in the opposite direction (“retrograde” in astronomy). Therefore, the Age of Aquarius follows the Age of Pisces.

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius

The fact is that Mars and Jupiter “align” roughly every two years, and the Moon is in the 7th House for about two hours every day, one of these occurrences took place

in 2009, February 14..

Astrological ages exist as a result of precession of the equinoxes. The slow wobble of the earth’s spin axis on the celestial sphere is independent of the diurnal rotation of the Earth on its own axis and the annual revolution of the earth around the sun. Traditionally this 25,800-year-long cycle is calibrated for the purposes of determining astrological ages by the location of the sun in one of the twelve zodiac constellations at the vernal equinox, which corresponds to the moment the sun rises above the celestial equator, marking the start of spring in the Northern hemisphere each year. Roughly every 2,150 years the sun’s position at the time of the vernal equinox will have moved into a new zodiacal constellation. However zodiacal constellations are not uniform in size, leading some astrologers to believe that the corresponding ages should also vary in duration. This however is a contentious issue amongst astrologers.

Aquarius

Aquarius, Water Symbol
Aquarius, Water Symbol

The Aquarius symbol is metaphoric in content – meaning ‘closure in water’. Water represents the collective unconsciousness which creates the grid programs of our physical reality. Many connect the Age of Aquarius with the return of the goddess, priestess, or feminine energies – those that vibrate above/faster than physical frequency. This is the return to higher consciousness, the awakening of higher mind and thought in the alchemy of time.

From Red Ice Creations: It is generally believed that the Aquarian Age started in the year 2000, 2160 years roughly being the Age of a Sign. The Piscean age started at around 200 BCE ( Before Common Era ). Let us study the symbolisms of the Piscean and the Aquarian Ages.

As the Earth’s precession is 72 degrees per degree, 2160 years is an Age Cycle. 25920 years ( 12*2160) is a Precessional Cycle or a Great Plato Year or an Aeon.

Pisces means Fishes and Jesus was the Redeemer of the Piscean Age. The Piscean Age emphasised Faith. The two fishes of Pisces indicate Dualism and during this time, the conflict between Religion & Science intensified as Science rose against blind Faith. The belief in an external God was rejected by Science.

Aquarius is ruled by two planets in Astrology – Uranus & Saturn. Uranus represents Independence and Saturn Universal Humanism. Humanism postulates that no dogma or political doctrine can save you; only you can save yourself. If you save yourself, you save society, you save the nation and the Planet Earth ! In other words, Universal Humanism will be the hallmark of the Aquarian Age.

The astrologic scholar Jeff Jawer remarks that the Aquarian Age has not arrived in his article ” On The Cusp between Pisces and Aquarius. ” The first Venus Transit occurred in 2004 & the next one wlll be in 2012. These 8 years will be like the Dark Night of the Soul, a chaotic period of purgatorial suffering as the Planet Earth goes through a dark phase. Dr Jose Arguelles, the scholar who brought the concept of Harmonic Convergence, also thinks that the enlightening Age of Aquarius will dawn on 2012.

The famous song on Aquarian Age states thus

    • When the moon is in the Seventh House
    • And Jupiter aligns with Mars
    • Then peace will guide the planets
    • And love will steer the stars!
    • This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
    • The age of Aquarius
    • Aquarius!
    • Aquarius!

All freethinkers are excited about the New Aquarian Age where Wisdom will blossom and importance will be on Self development, Self Transformation, Self Realisation & Self Actualisation. Gone are the days of dogma & Blind Faith. Personal transformation will result in Planetary Transformation !

Dante, Bernard Shaw & Alice Bailey had highlighted in their writings that a World Government is the only solution to achieve permanent World Peace. Mahesh Yogi inaugurated the World Government in 1975 in Seelisberg, Switzerland ( ” In response to the call of time, a global organisation has been structured, the non-political, the non-religious World Government which has the knowledge and expertise to create an ideal society” ). Foster Bailey, the husband of Alice Bailey, said that ” Free Masonry is the descendent of a United World Religion, a divinely imparted Religion. Then came separativeness and religions. Now we are striving for a United World Order” There is also a move to create a World Stock Market & to control all governments in the world. The foundations behind the United Nations are spiritual. The Global Oneness Movement is gaining momentum and a Council of Global Governance has been constituted with Maurice Strong as the President.

Dr Wilhmhurst saw the dawning of the Aquarian Age as the fulfillment of the Plan and said that Free Masonry may be the vehicle for that fulfillment. Wise people point out that the New Age Movement is the Universal Religion which H G Wells predicted would one day take over mankind.

The hand of the Mysteries controlled the establishment of the United States Government and the signature of the Mysteries may still be seen on the Great Seal of the United States of America. The Seal discloses a mass of Masonic symbols, chiefly amongst them the American Eagle, which is a conventionalized phoenix. The U S Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter said ” The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes “. Continue Reading at Red Ice Creations

Where in the Heavens Did the Master Astrologers of the Greeks say that the Constellation of Aquarius Begins? You might think we could never answer this question; that the information has been lost in the mists of time. But amazingly we can.

We still possess, loving preserved down the many centuries, copies of Al Magest Star Catalog of the most famous astrologer of us all, Claudius Ptolemy [c 130 – 170 AD]. It was the catalogue of the Greek astrologers, and was thought to be based on the even older star catalogue of the almost as famous astrologer Hipparchos [c 190 – 120 BC] [who probably based his in turn on the works of the star gazers of the Babylonians, though the evidence for this is now lost to us, along with Hipparchos’ star catalog.]

Shown are the constellation stars of the Greeks. Color coded so it can be seen which belong to the constellations of Pisces, the Fishes, Aquarius, the Water Carrier and Cetus, the Whale. It shows that there has been almost no change in the way we see these constellations since the time of Ptolemy. Presumably those astronomers back in 1928 even used Ptolemy’s stars themselves to set up the modern boundary.

start of new age
The Pisces-Aquarius Constellation Border Drawn from the Stars of Al Magest Star Catalogue [Claudius Ptolemy, c 150 AD] [Based on Hipparchos star catalogue of c 150 BC]

The only difference between modern star catalogues and that of the Classical Greeks is the three bottom-left stars shown for Aquarius, which have now been given to Cetus. All the rest of the stars today are still allocated to the constellations as Ptolemy described them nineteen centuries ago.

This means that it’s possible to draw on a star map an approximate location for where the Greeks astrologers would have placed the Pisces-Aquarius constellation border. This is the undulating blue line on the map. At the point where it crosses the Ecliptic, it is in almost exactly the same place as on a modern star map. Giving the dawn of the Age of Aquarius as approximately 2600 AD. (If you believe the AD / BC timeline to be exact…) [The horizontal line in the centre of the map is the Ecliptic.]
