As my interest is more or less leaning towards other ‘Zodiacs’ such as Celtic, Native American, Mayan & Vedic etc. I have not posted some links under the Western Zodiac for some time, due to some interest from search engines, I’ll again post a bit of ‘info’ + links 😉

Excerpt: The concept of the 24 solar terms is an invention that is unique to the Chinese calendar. Their key role in facilitating Chinese husbandry has continued for thousands of years right up until this date. Solar terms were first invented in the Yin and Shang dynasty, and the 24 solar terms did not come into being in full until the Western Han Dynasty.

The 24 solar terms and four seasons

The four seasons are defined based on the 24 solar terms. Spring: the season when the temperature rises from low to high; summer: the season when the temperature rises to the highest; autumn: the season when the temperature drops from high to low; winter: the season when the temperature drops to the lowest. The Differences Between the Chinese Zodiac and Western Astrology
With Chinese New Year coming up, and 2021 is the 
year of the Ox, it is worth trying to understand the Chinese zodiac, a system of divination that differs from Western astrology.

The main similarities between the two systems are that both systems are based on date and time of birth, with 12 symbols or signs used to communicate across the meaning. We’ve listed some of the main differences, to make things a little easier to understand.

Origins of the Signs
In Chinese astrology, the 12 signs are derived from a myth that when God was developing a calendar, all creatures on Earth were summoned to participate in a race. The first 12 to cross the line were awarded signs in the Chinese zodiac.

This differs from Western astrology where the 12 signs are based on constellations’ positions relative to the earth. The constellations were named according to Greek mythology. Continue Reading if Full….
